IR's IRS2500 µPFC Control IC Reduces Noise Sensitivity for Cost- Sensitive Electronic Ballast and SMPS Applications
International Rectifier has introduced the IRS2500S µPFC power factor correction (PFC) control IC for switch mode power supply (SMPS), LED drivers, fluorescent and HID electronic ballast applications.
The IRS2500S µPFC controller can be configured to operate in critical conduction boost PFC or flyback configuration. International Rectifier has introduced a family of automotive qualified planar MOSFETs for a variety of applications used in Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), hybrid and full electric vehicle platforms.
The family of new devices utilizing IR's proven planar technology includes 55 V and 150 V standard gate drive N Channel MOSFETs, and -55 V and -100 V standard gate drive P channel MOSFETs suitable for high-side switch applications, requiring no additional charge pump for gate drive. The 30 V, 55 V and 100 V logic level gate drive N Channel MOSFETs simplify gate drive requirements and help reduce board space and component count. All of the new devices are optimized for low on-state resistance (Rds(on)).

IR's new patented, hermetic, compact SMD0.2 package utilizing Aluminum Nitride (AlN) ceramic for enhanced thermal conductivity, is designed specifically for RAD-Hard MOSFETs and addresses the needs of power designers requiring reduced weight and system size. With a 0.3" x 0.2" x 0.1" (8mm x 5mm x 3mm) footprint weighing only 0.25 g, the SMD0.2 surface mount package is 50 percent smaller and 75 percent lighter compared to existing SMD0.5 packages while dissipating the same amount of power at around 23 W.

International Rectifier has introduced a new RAD-Hard solid state relay (SSR) for power bus switching, heater control circuits and battery charging used in high reliability (hi-rel) space-qualified applications.
The RDHA701CD10A2N radiation-hardened DC single pole, single throw-type SSR is designed to improve reliability by replacing traditional electro-mechanical relays that are vulnerable to vibration and shock. The new SSR features very low on-state resistance (RDS (on)) to improve thermal efficiency and is offered in a low profile, hermetically sealed 8-lead ceramic package. Weighing only 0.8 g this surface mountable device uses just 0.37 inches by 0.47 inches of board space.
