Fujitsu Semiconductor has expanded its line-up of USB 3.0-SATA bridge controllers, introducing the new MB86E50 series for external USB 3.0 RAID storage devices. MB86E50 has also passed USB-IF compliance testing conducted by the USB Implementers Forum and is now certified as compliant with the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed standard.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe today announced the launch of its next-generation high-definition (HD) multi-standard video decoder solution. The MB86H61 complies with the Digital Video Broadcasting (DVB) and China Audio and Video Coding (AVS) Standards. The decoder chip is capable of decoding MPEG-2, H.264/AVC, AVS and VC-1 compressed video up to HD resolution. It combines a fast ARM1176JZF-S™ CPU with more than 475DMIPS with all the features required by next-generation HDTV receivers including advanced security for supporting CI-Plus and the latest embedded Conditional Access (CA) systems.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe today announced a new two-channel DC/DC converter IC with fast transient response times, for use in digital products, such as LCD TVs, and digital video recorders. The MB39A145 utilises a 'bottom detection comparator method', and includes new comparator circuits that provide changes in voltage for changes in current to realise a more stable, low ripple output voltage. This improved stability subsequently reduces the number of external components that are needed, such as condensers, thus reducing space. The IC also includes Pulse Frequency Modulation (PFM) that operates in currents below 100mA, enabling the IC to provide high efficiency in all current ranges and reduce the power consumption of end equipment in stand-by mode.
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe today announced the launch of a new digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) development kit adaptor. The DKXC5VADAPT-1 demonstrates how simple it is to implement a high-performance interface between an FPGA and the Fujitsu DK86064-2 and DK86065-2 high-performance DAC development kits. Fujitsu Microelectronics has announced the MB86C30A, one of the first available USB 3.0 to SATA bridge ICs, which supports the ultra-fast 5Gbps maximum data transfer rate of SuperSpeed USB, the USB 3.0 specification. The MB86C30A is the first in Fujitsu's new MB86C30 Series of USB 3.0 to SATA bridge ICs. When embedded in PC peripheral devices the IC provides an order of magnitude increase in data transfer rates from external storage devices, such as hard disk drives (HDDs), to PCs, in comparison to the USB 2.0 specification.

The MB86H57 (15 x 15mm) and MB86H58 (27 x 27mm) encoder/transcoder ICs include memory-in-package and feature low power consumption of only 1W in full transcoding operation.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe and Teltonika collaborate to offer WiMAX operators a new and expanded range of WiMAX terminals. Teltonika, with R&D, production and support in Vilnius, Lithuania, will expand its wireless GSM, GPRS and HSDPA modules and terminals portfolio with new WiMAX terminals based on Fujitsu's second generation WiMAX chipset and protocol stack. Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe has announced what it says is the world's first '1394 Automotive' controller IC that realises HD (1,280 dots x 720 lines) video transmission over the 1394 Automotive in-vehicle multimedia network protocol. The new IC, the MB88395, can transmit multiple streams simultaneously around the vehicle, such as HD video from Blu-ray DVDs, digital TV, and car navigation images.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe (FME) has expanded its line-up of H.264 CODECs with two new devices that encode and decode full high-definition (HD) (1920 dots x 1080 lines) video in H.264 format. The first of the two products to be launched, the ultra-low power MB86H55, features power consumption of only 500mW during full HD encoding including the built-in memory, an industry-leading level for low power consumption. In addition, the upcoming MB86H56 will offer processing of full HD video at 60 frames-per-second (progressive) '60p', to improve picture quality even further.

Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe has announced the development of what it says is the world's first embedded-FRAM device for digital TVs that enables simultaneous use of four-channel High-Definition Multimedia Interface connector ports - for connecting devices such as multiple DVD recorders, camcorders, and video game consoles – and which stores display data, such as resolution, that is read by audio-visual digital entertainment devices when they are used with digital TVs.
Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe has announced its MB87Q2091 10G Ethernet LAN-PHY mapper targeting Ethernet mapping and transport applications. The MB87Q2091 enables transport of multiple service types (both synchronous and asynchronous) including 10GE LAN-PHY or WAN-PHY, SDH/SONET STM-64/OC-192 or OTN OTU-2 signals. With support for multiple mapping modes, the device provides maximum flexibility to manage Ethernet LAN/WAN transport over metro and core networks and complements Fujitsu's family of products for 10G SDH/SONET and Ethernet applications as well as 40G SDH/SONET/OTN applications.
