High-speed ARM in-circuit emulator with integrated GCC compiler and debugger
The Embest UNetICE, a low-cost, high-speed in-circuit JTAG emulator for ARM processors, is now available exclusively in the UK from Computer Solutions. UNetICE connects the USB or Ethernet port of a PC to the JTAG interface of the ARM target board and allows flash programming and debugging.
High-speed debugger interface supports ARM Cortex devices
Development support for microprocessor devices based on the ARM Cortex architecture is now available on the Abatron BDI3000 high-speed debugger from Computer Solutions. The new cores supported are the ARM Cortex-A8, such as the TI OMAP3430 family, and the ARM Cortex-M3, which includes the STM32 family, the LPC1700 and the whole of the Luminary Micro LM3S range. Both device families are supported by the JTAG interface on the BDI3000, and there is additional support for the single-wire debug port (SW-DP). The BDI3000 then acts as an external server connecting to the popular GDB debugging package via Ethernet.

The BDI3000 is the latest in Abatron's popular range of BDM/JTAGJTAG interface for use with the GDB debugging package or as a flash programmer. They offers substantial performance enhancements compared with earlier models with support for GDB debugging and flash programming for ColdFire, PowerPC, ARM, Xscale and MIPS processors.
BDM/JTAG debugger offers higher speed and performance enhancements
The Abatron BDI3000, now available in the UK from Computer Solutions, is the latest generation of Abatron's popular range of BDM/JTAG debuggers, and offers higher speed and performance enhancements compared with earlier models. Features of the BDI3000 include support for GDB debugging and flash programming for ColdFire, PowerPC, ARM, Xscale and MIPS processors. It will also support low-voltage processors down to 1.2 V.
Software package provides test and simulation for CAN/FMS systems
The PCAN-FMS Toolkit from Computer Solutions is a new software package designed to carry out test and simulation functions on the CAN Bus Fleet Management System (FMS) protocols used by truck and bus manufacturers. The FMS protocols (FMS and Bus-FMS ISO 11992-1) are used by a number of leading bus and truck manufacturers to provide interoperability of systems installed on commercial vehicles and buses. They include a standard set of addresses and layouts for CAN messages used in these industries.
Multifunction protocol tester is USB 3.0 ready
The new Ellisys USB Explorer 260 (EX260), now available in the UK from Computer Solutions, is a multifunction test generator and protocol analyser for the automated compliance testing of USB systems, including the ability to handle the forthcoming USB 3.0 'super-speed' transfers at 5 Gbit/s. The EX260 can analyse any USB 1.1 or USB 2.0 connection, including OTG and IC-USB systems, emulate USB hosts and devices, inject pre-defined error patterns for stress and error-recovery testing, and automatically verify compliance to the USB specification.
High-speed programming and debugging tool for Freescale microcontrollers
Enhanced versions of the P&E Cyclone, a family of debugging and programming tools for the Freescale families of microcontrollers, are now available from Computer Solutions. For the Freescale HC08/S08/R08, HC12/S12/S12X and v1 Coldfire (Flexis) microcontrollers, the Cyclone Pro links to the target board via the BDM or MON08 ports. It can function as a completely standalone programmer or, with its Ethernet and USB interfaces, either as a high-speed interactive BDM development tool or as a versatile automated programmer.
