The recent addition of high-speed UARTs to the library of functions for QuickLogic's low-power, configurable Customer Specific Standard Product (CSSP) logic platforms for consumer electronics, is providing a versatile upgrade path for smartphone developers. It offers a power-efficient single-chip solution to expand the interfacing capability of a mobile application processor to support high-datarate Bluetooth, as well as the integration of further high-desirability peripherals such as GPS.

Connectivity platform for mobile electronics products now available in wafer-level CSP
QuickLogic's innovative connectivity platform targeting the handheld electronics product market, ArcticLink, is now available in compact wafer level chip scale packaging (WLCSP). ArcticLink reduces design time and risk for mobile product developers by embedding hard-wired host controllers with a programmable fabric – all in a single, low power device. The new 4.42 x 5.74 mm WLCSP version of this device saves considerable PCB space compared with conventional BGA packaging, helping developers to pack more features into smaller form factors.

QuickLogic enhances SDIO host controller solution to handle multiple cards and mixed sizes

QuickLogic has enhanced its SDIO host controller solution by providing it with the ability to handle multiple, independent memory cards. The enhanced host controller solution is a Proven System Block for the company’s Customer Specific Standard Product (CSSP) solutions platform library, addressing the needs of handheld system designs. The first delivered implementation handles four independent cards, but the company can configure the PSB for as many card slots as a customer requires. Target applications include storage for personal navigation devices and portable media players.

QuickLogic samples platform for handheld applications
Engineering samples of QuickLogic's latest customer specific standard product (CSSP) platform for the connectivity, intelligence, and logic requirements of handheld applications are now available. Based on QuickLogic’s patented ViaLink technology, PolarPro II offers ultra low power consumption combined with small-footprint packages. A very low power (VLP) mode freezes system operation, during which the static current drops to less than 5 microamps. Entry and exit from the VLP mode are as fast as 10 microseconds, allowing systems to conserve energy by shutting down in between bursts of activity.

QuickLogic and Sital announce development partnership for MIL-STD-1553 core

QuickLogic is partnering with Israel-based avionics technology leader Sital Technology to optimise Sital’s MIL-STD-1553 controller design with QuickLogic’s ViaLink programmable fabric. The MIL-STD-1553 bus is used in military and avionics applications such as head-up displays, radar, and weapons systems. The controller design will become part of QuickLogic’s Proven System Block (PSB) library for military-grade solutions using the PolarPro family of programmable platforms.
