Customisation can be considered as a Pewatron toolbox allowing the customer to put together the best suited oxygen module for any particular application. The oxygen sensors themselves cannot be changed in form, fit or function, but the four sensor types (FCX-ULL, UL, UC and UWC) cover almost the full range of oxygen concentration ranges and as an extra feature it can also work as a humidity sensor.

The key element of the sensor module is the oxygen sensor from Fujikura; it is an amperometric solid-state sensor (zirconia) with high output accuracy, a short response time to gas concentration changes and ruggedness against pressure change, humidity and other gases.

Zirconia oxygen sensor modules with standardized output
Pewatron offers two of a kind standard OEM, off-the-shelf Zirconia oxygen sensor modules; the FCX-ML type and the FCX-MC type. Dependent on the application and the control interface of the customer, the one or the other type can be beneficial. The FCX-ML type requires additional control interface electronics from the customer in case the device to be built requires any certification, like for instance CE certification.

The FCX oxygen sensor series comes with 4 different measurement ranges; 01000ppm, 0-5%, 0-25% and 0-95%. The construction of the individual sensors with respect to the measurement range has been done to meet requirements such as accuracy, signal stability/repeatability, response time and operational lifetime of the sensor, but all sensors are based on the zirconia principle.

Fujikura has released the digital AL4 series of gauge low pressure sensors for volume production. With a footprint of 11.36x10.32mm, the series is smaller than other low sensors. It also features an SMT pin configuration and a high total accuracy of ±1.5% FSO within a compensated temperature range from 0 to +50°C.

SMD pressure sensors for medical technology and pneumatics with a linearised output signal
The smallest pressure sensor from Fujikura has “dream dimensions” of 7 x 7 x 6.5 mm, is named the FGM and can be delivered with a measuring range of 0 - 140 mbar up to 10 bar in various subranges. The least expensive FGM model has a Wheatstone bridge which delivers a non-compensated output signal of approximately 100 mV when fed with a constant current of 1.5 mA. With the most convenient version, the XFGM, there is an ASIC directly on the silicon.

The PSD18-410 series is optimally suited for applications where water or even aggressive media must be measured at low pressures starting at 0 - 100 mbar or at pressures up to 7 bar. The PSD18-410 is an oil-filled stainless steel sensor. The new PEWATRON KKD34-701 capacitive pressure sensor handles measurements in the range of 0 - 60 mbar and can be trimmed electronically to 0 - 12 mbar. In addition to this measurement range, it is also possible to make corrections to account for effects arising during assembly by means of an integrated interface. Parameterisation is accomplished with a Windows-compatible, menu-driven kit.
