Solder cup spring-loaded connectors
Mill-Max has expanded its solder cup, spring loaded connector series with the introduction of versions delivering over 60% more stroke than the existing series.  The single row 824-22-0XX-00-005000 and double row 826-22-0XX-00-005000 provide a mid-stoke of .045in (1,14 mm) with a maximum stroke of .090in (2,29 mm).  The longer stroke helps compensate for tolerance stack-ups in assemblies and provides greater flexibility for unpredictable motion due to shock and vibration.

SLC targets tough applications in rough environments
A ruggedised long stroke 4mm pitch spring-loaded connector (SLC) has been announced by Mill-Max Manufacturing that is aimed at tough applications in rough environments. The new 858 series is suitable for applications where the connector will experience side loading, great variation in vertical engagement, high levels of shock and vibration, high cycle counts and extremes of temperature. The 858 series features heavy-duty spring pins with 1.27mm (0.050") diameter plungers that resist bending during the application of side loads.

Insulated terminals compatible with drilled holes in boards
A new selection of insulated terminals has been announced by Mill-Max. Six popular Mill-Max pins and receptacles have been fitted with cylindrical insulating sleeves for electrical isolation applications. The new offerings include three header pins, two receptacles and one solder cup pin to suit a variety of uses. Insulated terminals are used to electrically isolate single pin interconnects from surrounding conductive components or elements in an assembly.

Spring loaded pins suit automated assembly
Mill-Max announces a new option for automated assembly of spring-loaded pins with the introduction of removable pick & place caps. The new 806 series features standard Mill-Max spring pins with removable caps which keep parts centered in the carrier tape pocket, present a large round target surface for vacuum pick up and are easily removed after the soldering process. Some components, particularly individual terminals and pins, are poorly suited for pick & place carrier tape packaging due to their geometry.

Triple row spring-pin connectors provide flexibility
Mill-Max has expanded its triple row connector series' to include long stroke, through-hole mount spring-loaded pins and mating target connectors. These connectors are on .100" (2,54 mm) grid and available in 9 − 96 position configurations. Triple row connectors provide the designer the flexibility of a single connector solution in place of using separate single and double row connectors; this can be useful when the available space allows for additional rows but not a longer connector.

Expanding its selection of wire termination products, Mill-Max has announced three new wire crimp receptacles and two solder cup receptacles. The three wire crimp receptacles can accommodate wires from 22-26 AWG and accept mating pins in the popular 0.63mm (0.025”) to 1.02mm (0.040”) range.

Mill-Max offers miniature receptacles for diverse applications
For applications requiring miniature receptacles, Mill-Max offers four diverse, off-the-shelf products which will fulfill those needs. These receptacles are suitable for use in high density configurations down to 1mm pitch. Each receptacle contains our three-finger, beryllium copper contact with a diameter range of 0.008 to 0.013”. The contact is characterized by a low insertion force making it compatible with miniature leads subject to bending.

Mill-Max has announced a recent addition to its spring-loaded pin selection with the introduction of the 0973-0-15-20-77-14-11-0. This offering has a solder cup designed to accept up to 20AWG wire, has a maximum stroke of 0.080” and can be used at a minimum spacing of 0.100”.

Mill-Max expands its series of straight & right angle pins
Mill-Max has developed additional straight and right angle male PCB pins to complement the existing 35XX and 37XX series. In addition to the 0.020”, 0.025”, 0.030” and 0.040” diameters available, these pins now offer diameters of 0.060” and 0.080”. They are suitable for plugging into receptacles and/or soldering into printed circuit boards. The 0.060” and 0.080” diameter pins are a good fit for applications demanding high mechanical strength or to meet higher current requirements.

Mill-Max is excited to announce an addition to its family of spring pin mating products. This low profile SMT disc shaped terminal is suitable for applications where vertical space is at a premium. The 1578-3-57-15-00-00-03-0 SMT disc is 0.078" in diameter and only 0.055" ±0.002" (1.4 mm +/- 0.0508 mm) tall.

Spring loaded connectors now come packaged on tape & reel
Three additional Mill-Max SMT spring-loaded connectors are now available packaged on tape and reel. With this development, all SMT spring-loaded connectors are now offered on tape and reel for automated pick & place assembly. The 855-22-XXX-30-002191, from 4-40 positions, are double row and on a space saving 0.050” (1.27mm) grid. Each spring pin features a base geometry of 0.029” (0.74 mm) round by 0.010” (0.25 mm) tall to maximise soldering surface area and provide secure attachment to the PCB.

Due to customers’ demand, Mill-Max has expanded its line of discrete insulated spring-loaded pins. Its original 807 series are SMT insulated pins in seven heights from 0.100 to 0.236” with working travel from 0.012 to 0.0275”. The SMT pins, 0907 series, are available in ten heights from 0.255 to 0.430” with a working travel of 0.0275”.

Pins & connectors feature a stroke distance of 2.29mm
Mill-Max has added three new heights to its 0914 series of spring-loaded pins and corresponding single and double row connectors. The 0914 series has a mid-stroke distance of 1.14mm and a full stroke distance of 2.29mm, almost double most standard series products. This provides more flexibility and tolerance for assembly. These new, taller versions are useful for assemblies requiring greater distance between mating surfaces and contact points.

Connectors designed for combined signal & power transmission
Connectors designed for combined signal and power transmission have been introduced by Mill-Max. The devices, which include a five-pin, cable-to-board socket and header and a 40-pin board-to-board header and socket, remove the need for separate connectors for power and signal transmissions. The five-pin connectors feature two contacts for power and three for signal, while the 40-pin connectors have 30 signal contacts and 10 power contacts.
