u-blox announced the release of a proven high-speed wireless PCI card reference design supporting HSDPA, EDGE and GPRS standards. The N725 design results in a versatile wireless communications card with industry standard PCI form factor. Supporting global GSM and UMTS standards, the N725 gives u‑blox OEM customers a fast, off-the-shelf way to integrate the world’s highest-speed cellular communications standard into notebooks, netbooks, and Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs). The design is also suitable for high-speed telematics applications such as remote surveillance and vehicle information systems.
The N725 supports 7.2 Mb/s downlink and 384 kb/s uplink speeds and is based on world-class baseband and RF components plus mature, fully tested firmware with integrated 2G/3G and TCP/IP protocol stacks. In addition to the complete hardware design and software binaries, u-blox provides its customers all necessary support to certify the finished product and bring it into full production.

Based on u-blox’ mature N721 general-purpose 3G reference design, the N725 is optimized for mobile computing products requiring the PCI form factor and targets high volume applications.
