Extreme Engineering Solutions has introduced a new conduction- or air-cooled XMC or PMC featuring 12 high-speed ISO 11898-2 CAN bus channels. The industry’s first CAN bus XMC, the XPort9200 triples the number of CAN bus channels previously available from any COTS conduction- or air-cooled PMC module. Accessible via the PMC P14, XMC P16, or front panel connector, all 12 isolated CAN bus 2.0A and 2.0B-compliant channels support speeds up to 1 Mbps.

Enabling access to at least 12 high-speed CAN channels, the XPort9200 can be mounted on any module that supports an air-cooled or conduction- cooled (VITA 20) XMC / PMC site. The 12 accessible high-speed CAN channels are for a significant number of COTS VPX, VME, CompactPCI and system-level products, including the X-ES 4th gen Intel Core i7 processor-based 3U VPX XPedite7570 and 3U cPCI XPedite7530.

Routing all 12 CAN bus channels to its XMC P16 connector, the XPort9200 supports a VITA 42.3-compliant x1 PCIe interface through its XMC P15 connector when configured as an XMC. When configured as a PMC, however, it supports a 32-bit PCI interface through its PMC P11 and P12 connectors and routes all 12 CAN bus channels to its PMC P14 connector. Available configuration options include front panel I/O and on-card termination.

System integration is eased since the XPort9200 utilises industry-standard NXP SJA1000-compatible CAN controllers, facilitating full support of Linux SocketCAN and helping to simplify software portability. Drivers are also availble for Wind River VxWorks and Microsoft Windows.
