AndersDX today announced a new SBC powered by Intel’s third-generation Core i7 processor, the new andersDX SBC-IPC’s lightning-fast performance, features and connectivity are unprecedented in such a small, low power implementation
This SBC takes desktop-level power, features and connectivity into unattended, space-limited or demanding environments. Driven by an Intel Ivy Bridge Core-i7 dual core 1.7 GHz CPU, this low power board runs dual-head Intel HD graphics and a wide range of high-speed interfaces.

The SBC-IPC is another Single Board Computer product to appear from andersDX’s longstanding joint venture with CompuLab. The board, already successful within the highly-acclaimed Intense PC, is now being made available to systems integrators as a compact SBC for embedding within their own digital signage, infotainment, security and other medical, retail and industrial applications.

The board’s performance is supported with up to 16 GB of DDR2 RAM. Graphics outputs are available as LVDS, HDMI to 1920 x 1200 @ 60 Hz and DisplayPort to 2560 x 1600 @ 60 Hz; these are complemented with both analogue and digital audio channels. Communications and I/O capabilities include 2x GbE, 2x USB3.0, 6x USB2.0, 2x eSATA, 3x SATA, 4x PCIe, RS232, and GPIOs as well as 802.11b/g/n WiFi and Bluetooth. Software support for the Linux and Microsoft Windows 7 operating systems is provided.

Arranging connections for multiple communications and I/O channels is time-consuming. andersDX solves this with their range of FACE (Function And Connectivity Extension) modules. Each integrates into the OEM’s enclosure, connecting internally to the SBC. Standard and custom modules with application-specific mixes of serial, CAN, USB, and Ethernet are available. New combinations appear regularly, and customers can also design their own.

The board’s features ease its design into challenging environments. It operates from a single 12 V power supply, drawing as little as 9 W. It is extremely compact, measuring 145 x 120 x 25 mm, and has been rated for environmental performance in terms of MTBF, operating and storage temperatures, relative humidity, shock and vibration.

An evaluation kit is available; this carries a 45-day trial and ‘refund if not suitable’ offer.

“The SBC-IPC represents a unique new opportunity for our systems designer customers” commented Paul Mullen, Sales Director of andersDX, “This fanless SBC is small, power-efficient, stable and rugged enough to fit and forget within unattended, space-limited and otherwise challenging environments – yet it offers a level of processing power and graphics normally only available from full desktop PC systems. This makes it ideal for digital signage, infotainment, security and other medical, retail and industrial applications.”
