The latest Mobile PC from The BVM Group is ICEFire, a 10.4 inch tablet PC optimised for use in the medical environment. It features dual 1880mAh medical grade Li-ion hot swap battery packs, which ensure availability 24/7. The unit is powered by Windows 7 Professional Embedded, running under the Intel ICH8M chipset on a 1.8GHz Intel Atom D525 dual core processor with up to 4GB of 1333MHz SDRAM and up to 128GB SSD mass storage. In the medical environment it retrieves patient data at the bedside, will capture and store patient symptoms in an emergency and gives instant access to the patient’s medical history to aid real-time diagnosis.
In common with all BVM Mobile devices, communications are a key feature. ICEFire supports 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless LAN, has an Ethernet LAN port and, for remote working, has a 3.75G modem for WAN connectivity. Data input is via an in-built 1D/2D barcode scanner, a RFID reader and, enabling medical staff to hand input patient symptoms, it has Windows 7 Digitizer support, WACOM digitizer and resistive touch input with auto-sensing and auto-switching. Bluetooth provides a secure method of connecting with mobile phones, hands-free headset, printer or other Bluetooth-enabled medical devices. A 3 Megapixel camera enables the unit to capture images or data for local storage or onwards transmission to a remote server.

The unit comes with a multi-function wall mounting, desktop, swing arm or VESA mounting docking station that powers the unit, charging both batteries, and also recharges a further two removable battery packs.
