Axiomtek has announced two advanced industrial-grade and ruggedised computing products which comply with IEC 61850-3 / IEEE 1613 standards and related regulations for power substation automation. The IPC122-833-FL is an application-oriented industrial-grade computer system and the rBOX101-6COM(ATEX) is an anti-explosive, rugged, DIN-rail fanless embedded computer system.

The IPC122-833-FL 1U rackmount industrial-grade computer is built with the power utility customer’s needs in mind. It ensures that the power utility business meets its complex objectives including ability to supply products and services that enhance operations, increase availability and efficiency as well as adhering to emission control standard. It is designed specifically for operations in harsh conditions, i.e., electric power substation, transportation, factory automation.

Powered by the dual core Intel Atom processor N2800, this fanless operating and feature-rich system offers isolated CANBus, multiple isolated LAN ports, isolated COM ports and isolated DIO ports. It is equipped with scalable memory architecture of DDR3-800/1066MHz SO-DIMM maximum of up to 4GB capacity.  For storage, the rugged computer has one 2.5” SATA HDD and one onboard CFast socket. Operating over a temperature range from -10 to +60°C, the IPC122-833-FL supports 130-370V DC and 85-264V AC wide range power input for mission-critical and unconstrained thermal environments.

According to Axiomtek, the rBOX101-6COM(ATEX) is the world's first ATEX certified, rugged, DIN-rail fanless embedded computer system. It fulfills all requirements for use in environments containing explosive dust and gas, and with extreme temperatures, and is therefore suited for power plant automation, facility monitoring systems, oil and gas industry, and more applications. The system is equipped with an extra low power Intel Atom processor Z520PT (1.33GHz).

The rugged embedded field controller comes packaged in tough IP30 housing and is designed to withstand temperatures ranging from -40 to +70°C for use in extremely cold or hot environments. Meeting diverse application needs, the rBOX101-6COM(ATEX) offers great expandability, including six isolated COM ports, two isolated Ethernet ports, one isolated DIO, two USB 2.0 ports, one VGA output and one CompactFlash socket. Its outstanding fanless and cable free design increases reliability, extends MTTR, and reduces maintenance efforts. Two power path inputs minimise the risk of data loss in the event of a single power failure.
