A fanless embedded box PC, featuring two expansion slots within a small footprint, has been released by Axiomtek. The eBOX638-840-FL, which supports the quad-core Intel Celeron processor J1900, provides outstanding computing performance while operating up to 10W. Graphics is enhanced by integrated Intel HD Graphics engine.

The device is offered with one DDR3L SO-DIMM system memory maximum up to 8GB, one full-size internal PCIe Mini Card slot and two SMA types of antenna openings to connect wireless through 3G or LTE. Interfaces include six RS-232 ports, dual Gigabit Ethernet ports, four USB 2.0 ports, one internal USB 3.0, VGA, HDMI and audio (mic-in/line-out). For sufficient storage, one 2.5" SATA HDD drive bay and mSATA slot are embedded in the PC. Embedded OS support is fully deployed under WES7, WE8S and Linux.

“The eBOX638-840-FL can dynamically increase the processor's frequency to accommodate a burst of speed when users need it, and increased energy efficiency when users don’t. With IP30-rated rugged aluminium steel enclosure and unique thermal solution, the eBOX638-840-FL can operate in temperature ranging from -10 to +55°C and wide voltage from 16 to 28VDC. The eBOX638-840-FL provides a cost effective yet reliable option for plant automation management in any harsh environment,” said Vincent Ji, Product Manager, Product Marketing Division, Axiomtek. “Furthermore, two PCI interfaces enable users to insert PCI expansion cards according to their mission-critical application requirements.”

The eBOX638-840-FL, which is suitable for passenger information systems, in-vehicle PCs, entry-level gaming and video surveillance, will be available in March 2015.
