Expanding their portfolio of mobile-based Intel HM86 products, DFI announce the HM960-HM86 Type 6 COM Express Basic module. Supporting the latest 4th generation Intel Core processor family, the COM is suitable for applications including gaming machines, medical equipment, industrial control automation, security & surveillance, smart grid, ATM and POS.

By utilising the 4th generation Intel Core processor family, the COM features enhanced CPU performance, media capabilities, graphics capabilities, power efficiency and security. The HM960-HM86 is equipped with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 engine to provide smooth flash playback and rich 2D/3D graphics with high quality playback. The module offers enhanced graphics performance via the one VGA, one LVDS and three DDI interfaces. This enables users to choose the best combination of displays to suit their individual application requirements.

The COM Express Basic module features two DDR3L SODIMM sockets supporting up to 16GB and is powered by the BGA 1364 packaging technology. An optional onboard SSD offers persistent data storage and is significantly quicker than conventional rotating hard disks. The HM960-HM86 provides multiple expansion interfaces, including: one PCIe x16; seven PCIe x1; one LAN; ten USB; four SATA; one LPC; one SMBus; one I2C; two serial; and 4-bit input and 4-bit output GPIO for device controls. These flexible interfaces allow your systems to process a higher data load and provide faster loading of frequently used applications.

DFI has already started development of the next COM Express Basic module, the HM961-HM86. Due for release in May 2014, this module provides ECC memory for intelligent 24/7 systems that need a reliable platform.
