The SSD2go pocket, an SSD weighing 90g and measuring 89.0x69.9x10.4mm, has been released by Angelbird. Available in 128, 256 and 512GB, the SSD operates from -20 to +70°C, with data integrity guaranteed from -40 to +85°C. The 128GB version draws just 0.8W in idle and 2.4W under full load.

Manufactured using CNC-machined aluminium, the SSD is available in silver, blue, red and black with pearl blasted and hard-anodised finish. Featuring a robust type-A USB 3.0 port, the SSD suitable for demanding applications, with transfer rates of 450MB/s (read) and 390MB/s (write). These transfer rates are made possible through the implementation of UASP (USB Attached SCSI Protocol), which uses the Silicon Motion 2246EN-controller. Only custom packed original micron NAND (16nm/L95B) parts are used by the SSD.

To manufacture the SSD2go pocket, Angelbird used vapour-phase soldering. Although this form of soldering is more time consuming than reflow soldering, it provides an MTBF of more than 2m hours.

This allows the company to offer a 5-year warranty on the SSD. Featuring 'straight from the box' compatibility with computers, TV sets and a range of multimedia devices for the car and home, the SSD is very user-friendly. The SSD also supports USB On-The-Go (OTG).

Featuring surge and overload protection, including (ESD, EMS), TRIM, ECC and SMART, the SSD ensures data integrity. According to Angelbird, the SSD2go pocket is the only mobile SSD of its kind that can process TRIM and SMART commands. Alongside hardware, firmware and software, time-limited full versions of Parallels 10 (limited to 6 months), Bitwig Studio 1.0 (limited to 3 months), System Reflection back-up tool (unlimited) and PureMix instructional videos are provided with the SSD. For remix purposes, renowned musicians including Marshall Jefferson, CeCe Rogers and Trash Junk offer exclusive music and samples.
