andersDX’s new CM-iGT Computer-on-Module delivers rich graphics and multimedia. Powered by the AMD G-Series APU, the CM-iGT is a low-cost x86 platform delivering high performance graphics and multimedia from a miniature form factor.
The APU features a dual-core 64 bit x86 CPU at up to 1.65GHz integrated with a powerful AMD Radeon HD 6250 GPU. This is supplemented with 4 GB DDR3 and 32 GB of on-board SSD. The CM-iGT module complements the APU’s power with extensive connectivity through a wide range of industry standard interfaces.

The CM-iGT is the latest Computer-on-Module product to appear from andersDX’s longstanding joint venture with CompuLab ltd. This fully-featured yet low-cost G-Series APU module mounts on an SB-iGT carrier board to become an SBC-iGT mini-ATX single board computer. The CM-iGT’s interface capabilities are made readily available to systems integrators using the SB-iGT or alternatively, a custom carrier board.

The module’s AMD G-Series processor features a highly scalable single/dual core CPU at up to 1.65 GHz coupled with powerful video processing and graphics acceleration units. Video processing is driven by a UVD 3 engine with native H.264, VC-1, MPEG2, and DivX 1080p Blu-Ray playback support. The integrated Radeon HD 6250 GPU provides graphics acceleration, with support for DirectX 1.1, OpenGL 4.0 and Open CL standards. Two configurable display ports support simultaneous operation with DisplayPort or HDMI 1.4 interfaces with up to 1920 x 1200 resolution at 60 Hz. LVDS and VGA channel options are also provided, as are stereo audio input and output.

Communications, I/O and bus expansion are available through 2 x Gigabit Ethernet channels, 6 x PCIe, 5 x SATA, 9 x USB, RS232 and CAN bus. Up to two I2C buses, and up to 29 general-purpose I/O channels are also provided.

The module is delivered with comprehensive hardware and software documentation, and software support for Linux, Windows 7 and Windows Embedded Compact 7 operating systems. The module is extremely compact, measuring just 75 x 65 x 8 mm, and operates from a single +5 Vdc power supply. Commercial, extended and industrial versions are available, with operating temperature ranges up to -40˚C to +85˚C.

An evaluation kit is available; this comprises the CM-iGT module, an SB-iGT carrier board, cables and a 12 V power supply. 12 months’ technical support is also included, and LCD panel compatibility verification and driver adaptation services are available.

“The CM-iGT is based on a highly integrated, low-power CPU and advanced GPU solution” commented Rob Anders, CEO of andersDX, “This provides a new foundation for high-performance multi-media content delivery from a fanless, small form factor. It facilitates a broad range of embedded designs in embedded applications including digital signage, thin clients, information kiosks, point of sale units, media servers and industrial control systems. Designers can give their products a real edge by adopting these miniature, cool-running and powerful multimedia devices.”
