CETECOM is providing complete tests for the Wi-Fi Direct services program. “We´re very happy about the new qualification. With this further qualification we can offer our customers all kind of testing according to the Wi-Fi Alliance programs”, says Michael Berg, Wi-Fi Lab Manager at CETECOM.

Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Direct is a certification mark for devices supporting a game-changing new technology enabling Wi-Fi devices to connect directly, making it simple and convenient to do things like print, share, sync and display. Products bearing the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Wi-Fi Direct designation can connect to one another without joining a traditional home, office or hotspot network.

Mobile phones, cameras, printers, PCs, and gaming devices will be able to connect directly to each other to transfer content and share applications quickly and easily.

Four services are now certified in the program, providing immediate value to the industry and end users. The first thing tested is Wi-Fi Direct Send what means that one or more devices quickly and easily can now send and receive content with minimal user interaction. Wi-Fi Direct Print is also part of the new test scheme and makes possible to print documents directly from a smartphone, tablet or PC with a single command.

Devices supporting DLNA interoperability guidelines discover each other before connecting to stream content. Wi-Fi Direct for DLNA is also part of testing. Last but not least Miracast is part of the certification program. With Miracast devices can implement the updated device and service discovery mechanisms of Wi-Fi Direct to enable screen mirroring and display in one step.
