Android tablet integrates RFID/NFC reader, barcode scanner & camera

A 7.85" fully rugged IoT handheld tablet, the Gladius 8, has been added to ARBOR Technology's Android product range. Powered by an MTK Quad-core Cortex A7 processor and running on Android v4.2 ('Jelly Bean'), the tablet PC's multiple connectivity options and waterproof, dustproof and drop resistance design makes it suited for highly mobile applications, such as logistics, warehousing, mPOS and fleet management.

The Gladius 8 is a specially designed tool for true industrial mobility. It features multiple wireless communications such as WWAN, WLAN and Bluetooth, that allows users easy access to information anytime, anywhere. In addition, its long battery life of up to 10 hours will support operation throughout the working day. Battery life can be extended even more when coupled with our desktop/vehicle mount wireless chargers.

Durability is another characteristic of the Gladius 8. It is fully ruggedised, with an IP65 rating, MIL-STD-810G standard, 1.2m (4ft.) drop resistance, advanced sealing and high-temperature tolerance (-20 to +60°). The unit adopts Corning Gorilla Glass 3 which is renowned for its exceptional damage resistance, making it durable for outdoor field use, while enhancing work efficiency and quality.

As a versatile unit, the Gladius 8 has a wide range of functions to meet customer’s needs. It has the integrated 1D barcode reader with physical trigger button and a 1D/2D barcode imager for flexible option. The rich I/O interfaces include an HDMI port and dual SIM sockets for expansion. The Gladius 8 incorporates RFID/NFC reader for access control, to secure data communication for some sensitive applications.
