The BVM Group has announced the modular AFOLUX GENII 15.6 inch Panel PCs, available with either the AMD ASB1 or the Intel Atom N270 processor. The units are designed for use in self-service or interactive applications in public and commercial environments. Both versions have gigabit Ethernet, 801.11 b/g/n wireless and Bluetooth connectivity as standard, have built-in webcam and microphone and feature a choice of either single touch resistive or multi-touch capacitive touchscreens. A built-in HD decoder and an MPEG2/H.264/AVC and HDMI second display interface provide high quality AV and the ability to drive a slave screen. An optional integrated RFID reader enables use as an interactive asset tracking and identification terminal. Fanless operation provides improved reliability and quiet operation.
Both versions have USB, RS232 and RS232/422/485 ports as standard. Additional capability is provided through modular expansion cards that interface into one of three expansion slots in the unit. Pluggable boards provide PCI Express, USB3.0, 4-channel video capture, TV tuner, a parallel port and additional RS232 and RS232/422/485 serial ports as required. The Intel-based unit also features a USB dongle interface to give access to a further selection of functions such as GPS, FM radio, Z-Wave home automation controls and Zigbee short-range RF communications and control.

The AMD-powered version is based on the 780E chipset and addresses up to 4GB of RAM, the Intel N270 unit has the 945GSE chipset supporting up to 2GB of RAM and a SATA interface enables local mass storage. Power is from an external 12VDC source.
