AAEON has launched a new PC/104 CPU module: the PFM-535S. This single board computer adopts the onboard DM&P Vortex86SX SoC processor and has DDRII 256MB system memory. AAEON unveils this compact and rich functionality PC/104 module to fulfill the demands of embedded markets and coincide with customers' existing system planning devices.
The PFM-535S is equipped with the Intel 82551ER chipset to support two 10/100Base-TX RJ-45 connectors. With dual Ethernet support, four USB2.0 ports, four COM ports, one parallel port as well as one EIDE and one CompactFlash socket for storage, the PFM-535S meets system communication needs of many embedded applications. In addition, the module has a PC/104+ expansion interface that will allow it to use PC/104+, PC/104 or PCI-104 peripherals. Video support is handled by the LynxEM4+ SM1712GF4 chipset in order to achieve simultaneous and dual view CRT/LCD with up to 1280 x 1024 @ 85Hz colors for CRT and 1024 x 768 @ 24bpp colors for LCD display. Due to the inclusion of this chipset, the PFM-535S supports TTL panels, up to 24-bit.

The DM&P Vortex86SX SoC processor is more cost effective solution compared to other similar processors that are embedded in PC/104 CPU modules in the market. PFM-535S achieves a good balance of performance and cost since it not only possesses versatile functions, but also has a competitive price for a limited budget, said Tony Huang, Product Manager of AAEON's Embedded Computing Division.
