Job Description:

The company are currently seeking a candidate for the Senior Hardware Development Engineer position in Worthing, UK.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Be able to coach and assist other engineers in the use of complex techniques.
  • Provide input into architecture design and takes responsibility and accountability for sub-system design.
  • Take responsibility for integration of the design across sub-systems.
  • Deliver clearly documented and accurate designs.
  • Have detailed knowledge of products or aspects of products and their use in applications and take responsibility for identifying and resolving problems.
  • Challenge assumptions and strive to find own solutions in discussion with other engineers.
  • Identify opportunities in product development that will provide benefits to the customer.
  • Provide support to the validation phase of development and the validation department.
  • Take responsibility for development tools and/or negotiations related to bought-in parts, products or tools which support product design or development.
  • Take responsibility for activities across departments.
  • Take part in activities that are necessary for the R & D department to develop. e.g. represent the company in the wider community.
  • Identify and suggest ways of improving the company working practises and implement the changes.
  • Have knowledge and interpretation of compliance standards.
  • Perform research in areas defined by oneself or others.
  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering, or similar related subject.

Qualifications:
Essential:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering, or similar related subject.
  • An engineering background in electronics product design.
  • Precision analogue design, op-amps , high resolution ADC.
  • Designing and testing for EMC.
  • Power supply design switch mode and linear.
  • Experience of identification and resolution of product design issues.
  • Have extensive knowledge of specific areas of the product development or technology and actively assist other engineers in areas of expertise.
  • Have an awareness of market, application and customer needs and should offer creative and innovative input regarding new products, services or features and application of new technologies.
  • Have detailed knowledge of, and the ability to implement using complex techniques Interpretation of compliance standards e.g. EMC; Safety.

Highly desirable:

  • Extensive experience in a new product development environment, with a proven track record of successful delivery to customers.
  • Analogue and digital hardware electronics design with PCB layout experience.
  • Working within an ISO9000 approved process or similar.
  • Working in multi-disciplined design teams in some cases split across countries.
  • Lead small teams of hardware engineers developing products.
  • Design for manufacture and testability.

Beneficial:

  • High speed digital design, use of programmable logic and full gate simulation.
  • Experience of product development life cycles.
  • Use of quality tools (e.g. DFMEA).
  • Experience of New Product Introduction into local or remote manufacturing facilities.
  • Design and specification of Human Machine Interfaces.
  • Appropriate reuse of existing designs.
  • Capable of independent safety review.

Other:

  • Full clean driving license.
  • Fluent spoken and written English are essential.
