Installers of PV installations know the situation all too well. Cables need laying in the field or on the roof and solar modules need to be connected together. Connectors have to be assembled with the cables. For these tasks, the installer naturally wants to have to take as few individual parts along as possible.
Every individual part can get lost, and costs space and time for installation. The crimping tool is extra ballast, too. Not to mention that many connectors need a separate special crimping tool. So it's not always a sure thing that you even have the right tool in your toolbox. Actually, all you really want to do is get the installation done as quickly and safely as possible.

Yamaichi answers that need with the Y-Sol4 F.A.T. (free assembly type) connector system. The connector itself is fully compatible with the well-known Y-Sol4. It was designed for simple, reliable, fast installation in the field.

We've kept even the delivery of Y-Sol4 F.A.T. as simple as we could imagine. The male plugs are delivered pre-assembled in a resealable bag. Another bag contains the also pre-assembled individual female jacks. The usual package size is 50 plugs or jacks per bag. This type of packaging is easy to handle and reduces the number of individual parts needed to a minimum.

In the field, you just loosen the screw connection and insert the stripped cable into the connector from the back. A firm press of the thumb on the spring contact and you can feel the contact toggle engage. The connection between the contact and the cable is complete. In the last work step, the connector is screwed together with the two plastic spanners included. A nice practical feature is the possibility to disconnect an engaged connection again with the same multifunctional plastic spanner.

Y-Sol4 F.A.T. has an IP67 protection class, meaning dust and moisture don't affect the connector system in harsh outdoor use. Even brief immersion in water is no problem. The contacts of the Y-Sol4 F.A.T. are punched out of high-quality copper alloy. That reduces the contact resistance and power losses to a minimum. Corresponding requirements, such as those specified in EN50521 for PV connectors, are thus satisfied and even exceeded.

Yamaichi has monitored the suitability of the PV connector in different internal long-term tests in parallel with the development phase. Corresponding tests were also carried out by TÜV and are confirmed in the product's certificate.
