In order to ease automatic vacuum pick-and-place processes on PCBs, Molex has added Kapton tape to its family of vertical SMT modular jacks. By adding a Kapton tape surface to the top side of the connector, the  modular jacks streamline high-volume production and lower manufacturing costs in industries such as telecomms, consumer, medical, industrial and commercial.

Kapton polyimide film remains stable across a wide range of temperatures (from -269 to +400°C) and, therefore, is suitable for use in high-temperature SMT manufacturing.

Available in RJ-11 and RJ-45 formats, the vertical SMT modular jacks feature a 1.27mm pitch, providing flexibility for a variety of design applications. Low-profile versions are also available to accommodate tight board stacking requirements. The modular jacks are also compliant with TIA-1096-A and IEC60603-7 PL2 standards.
