Featuring a narrow 1.7mm pitch and 1.8mm mated height, the DF65 series wire-to-board connector has been hailed as the industry’s lowest-profile power connector by manufacturer Hirose. The connector provides high-current capacity and high reliability for power supplies, up to 4A (with 24 AWG wire) and 50V AC/DC.

Hirose's advanced locking system developed for high vibration applications makes the DF65 series suitable for use with a DC jack or battery pack. Reinforcing the engagement between the socket and the header, the double locking structure enhances reliability. The positive lock secures the socket into the header, and produces over 5N cable pull strength in the upper direction. The friction lock system ensures complete locking by producing a final tactile click and prevents the socket from floating after mating.

With small size, high power capability and ruggedness, the DF65 series connectors are suitable for applications including industrial machinery, industrial robotics, portable medical devices, laptops, tablets, digital cameras, LCD TVs, home electronics, white goods, and LED lighting.

The super-low profile connector offers vertical mating to maximise available board space and reduce assembly time. Optimum reliability is attained from the two point contact structure, which stabilises contact resistance and restrains temperature rises. A molded structure prevents solder wicking and accidental unmating, while the header design provides increased cable retention and enhanced lance strength.

Operating over a temperature range from -35 to +105°C, the connector limits contact resistance to 10MΩ maximum with an insulation resistance of at least 100MΩ minimum at 100VDC.
