TE Connectivity (TE) is pleased to announce the launch of a new low fire hazard, heat-shrinkable continuous identification tubing for industrial, rail & mass transit, aerospace & defense, as well as marine applications. HXCT continuous tubing is a flattened, heat-shrinkable tubing, providing superb print quality for crisp clear wire and cable harness identification.
The tubing offers several cost and labour benefits during a print run: as it comes on continuous 50m or 100m spools, it minimises the number of spool changes. In addition, sleeves can be printed at a typical print speed of 75mm per second, which increases production speeds. Stock holding can be reduced as the length of the sleeve can be changed to individual requirements, so one part can be used instead of multiple assembled sleeves. Also, there is a flexibility to either cut or perforate the sleeve, with the latter saving manual cutting.

HXCT continuous tubing is ideally suited for applications in which in-sequence kitting is not of over-riding importance, for example where several hundred identical markers are required. It can also be used for applications where limited fire hazard characteristics are necessary. The zero halogen material coupled with low smoke and low toxic fume emissions makes this product best used in enclosed spaces such as mass transit, marine and industrial installations. HXCT continuous tubing is designed for computer-based printing using a range of printers and WinTotal software from TE Connectivity.

HXCT continuous tubing meets several industry standard requirements, including BS 6853 Vehicle category 1a, NF F 16-101, DIN 5510-2, EN50343, SAE AS81531 4.6.2, MIL-STD-202 Method 215J and LUL standard 1-085 ISS A1. It offers excellent print permanence when tested in demanding industry fluids. Available sleeve diameters range from 2.4mm to 38.1mm. Electric strength is 15 MV/m minimum and tensile strength is 7MPa minimum.
