Laird have introduced the Edge Guide Clip-on Strip, which reduces installation and labor costs. Available in custom lengths, the RoHs compliant Edge Guide Clip-on Strip is perfectly suited for almost all applications where Printed Circuit Boards need to be grounded and/or shielded.

Manuel Klesinski, product manager for Laird, comments: “The new design of the Edge Guide Clip-on Strip offers customers flexibility in the design phase due to customizable length options. This new product is based on one of our most popular PCB edge guide contact clips that was previously only available in single parts. We were able to address customer requests and develop a strip version that offers benefits over the commonly supplied single parts.”

Compared to a typical installation using 8 traditional single clips, a customer installing a 10cm, or 8 finger strip, could reduce installation time by up to 80% with the Edge Guide Clip-on Strip. Specifically designed to offer excellent grounding and/or shielding contact from the PCB to a card guide on a rack or housing inside electronic, the strip is made from beryllium copper (BeCu) and is available with various plating options, including tin or nickel. Low compression forces allow for easy installation of the card, while the unique snap-in feature of the contact fingers prevents any potential snagging. This enables bi-directional sliding contact along the edges.
