Designed to replace splices and provide power wherever needed, Amphenol has introduced a heavy duty connector series for sizes 8 and 12 power contacts. The single pole, rugged, in-line connection system, designated the ATHD series, uses the company's exclusive Radsok technology to reach higher amperages than other connectors in its class.

Suitable for rugged, high vibration applications found in the heavy equipment and mining markets, the connectors feature clip slots for a variety of harness mounting solutions and are field installable and repairable. This eliminates the need for costly, non-repairable splices.

Rated to 70A continuous with the Radsok terminals, the size 8 system has a contact retention of 156N. With a contact retention of 133N, the size 12 system is rated to 35A continuous with the Radsok terminals. While standard machined and stamped and formed contacts are offered for both sizes with a variety of platings, the size 12 system has special stamped and formed contacts that will crimp to 16 gage cable where less amperage is needed.

Operating over a temperature range from -55 to +125°C, both sizes are IP67 rated and can perform up to 100 mating cycles. The sealed, thermoplastic connectors also feature an operating voltage of 1,000VAC, dielectric withstanding voltage of 1,500VAC and insulation resistance of 1,000MΩ.

Other styles and custom solutions, including resin for higher temperatures up to 150°C and seals for harsh fluid applications, are available upon request.

Available now with delivery eight weeks ARO, the RoHS compliant ATHD series connectors are priced from $3.90 for the size 8 mated system with terminals and $2.90 for the size 12 mated system with terminals.
