In response to demands from customers requiring a resilient power connector, Harwin, has launched a family of high density power connectors that can handle currents up to 10A and withstand temperatures between -65degrees C and 175 degrees C. Based on a 3mm pitch, the M300 connectors are designed for rugged environments and withstand twice the number of operations as older generation products.

According to Ben Green, Technical and Marketing Communications Manager for Harwin, calls came from the oil and gas exploration industry as well as avionics, space and defence companies.

Equally important, is the connectors’ ability to withstand heavy vibrations. They have passed shock and vibration tests to 100g.

“The connectors have jackscrews for added security,” says Green and we can use a potted compound to offer strain relief for the cabling.”

The M300 connectors feature a 4-fingered Beryllium Copper female contact which delivers superb electrical and mechanical performance. The devices suit 18 to 22AWG applications and are rated for 1000 operations.

Other features include keyway polarisation and identification of the #1 position, and the connector bodies are moulded in environmentally-friendly material.

To aid design activities, Harwin provides CAD models and test reports, and live technical support is always available.
