Webro Cable and Connectors, has completed an expansion worth half a million pounds at its Long Eaton headquarters resulting in a 40 per cent increase in floor space and potential new jobs over the next two years.
The new Webro facility on the Meadow Brooks Business Park now covers 2,700m2 encompassing extended office space and a larger warehouse to store the firm’s full range of cables. The warehouse has been built over the existing yard to increase security and a new entrance has been created for staff and visitors.

Webro’s managing director, Roger Webster, commented: “The factory extension was very much an efficiency move for us. We used to have to spend hundreds of pounds each month storing our pallets off-site but now we have our own factory space we can store everything securely ourselves and reduce our overheads and transportation costs.”

The firm has experienced a 20 per cent increase in turnover in the last 12 months thanks to the continued upgrading of CAI- (Confederation of Aerial Industries) approved copper co-axial cables to meet the HD and Digital higher specification demands and the growing use of optic fibre cables.

Webro received strategic advice from business advisors UHY Hacker Young throughout the process and helped the directors consider the most effective ways of reducing outgoings while continuing to increase turnover.

Jeff Parr, partner at UHY Hacker Young, said: “I have worked with Roger and the Webro team for a number of years now and have seen the company grow from an industry specialist into an industry leader.”

Webro has recently won contracts to supply cable and connectors to the new Wembley Stadium, the London Underground network, the Highways Agency and the 2012 London Olympics. In addition it is the sole UK supplier to Sky and is providing cabling to a number of regional television networks during the digital switchover.

Roger added: “The last few years have shown that technology moves at such a fast pace that you really don’t know what is round the corner. Twelve months ago I would not have expected HD to be so popular. I am very excited about the developments to come in the next year and I hope our business will continue to grow.”
