Fujipoly has announced its Self-Supporting Sponge Connectors which provide engineers with an excellent, low-force option for connecting LCDs to circuit boards. The physical characteristics of the sponge dramatically reduce bowing of the PCB due to the minimal force required to make full electrical contact. This also makes the connector a great choice for high-vibration environments and hand-held devices.

Each connector is made from an economical, electrically conductive ZEBRA core that is supported by a low compression force silicone sponge on either one or two sides. These soft supports create a larger base width and eliminate the need to install a separate holder. This Fujipoly connector is available in a large selection of widths to accommodate LCDs with a minimum glass lip overhang of 1.5mm (0.060”).

The carbon-based ZEBRA connectors provide a current carrying capacity of 0.050mA per 0.040x0.040” pad and can be specified with 140, 240 or 500 conductive layers per inch.
