Connector series provides space-grade reliability

In January 2015, the Rosetta spacecraft successfully landed its Philae probe on the surface of comet 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko. Smiths Connectors' K and CMD/CSD series connectors were chosen for critical board-to-board interconnects in ground and navigation equipment, and for the satellite’s on-board S and X-band Deep Space Transponder, necessary for the probe to communicate its findings back to Earth.

Cables feature PIM performance of less than 140dBc

Cables feature PIM performance of less than 140dBc
To manage the interference in LTE networks caused by Passive InterModulation (PIM) in DAS, RF Industries has introduced low PIM flexible cable assemblies, terminated with QMA male straight or right angle connectors. These Times Microwave TFT-402-LF plenum rated assemblies feature PIM performance of less than 140dBc, using 2t at 20W. Premium QMA straight assemblies, which feature a PIM performance of less than 155dBc, are also available.

Direct solder terminals suit space constrained applications

Direct solder terminals suit space constrained applications
Claimed to deliver industry leading right angle connections with low applied cost, Molex's SolderRight direct solder terminals can now fulfil direct solder wire-to-board designs where a very low profile right angle solder option for wires exiting a PCB is necessary due to severe space constraints. This enables a secure and reliable connection with a minimal 'z' profile.

Power connectors eliminate mating header requirement

Power connectors eliminate mating header requirement
The Molex EdgeMate power connectors are on sale at distributor TTI. The devices offer positive PCB-locking and significant cost savings for wire-to-edge-card terminations in appliance, industrial and lighting applications. EdgeMate connectors are designed to help reduce cost by eliminating the need for mating headers in a wire-to-edge card.

It's good to torque

It's good to torque
Anyone who has worked in an electronics measurement lab and used coaxial connectors will know the importance of mating torque and will typically have a range of torque spanners complementing their coax connectors, adaptors and test cables. Valid, repeatable test results rely on a constant mating torque. The correct torque also ensures the longest life of your expensive measurement standard connectors, cables and adaptors, especially considering the repeated connect – disconnect cycles many connectors go through during their life, plus the test equipment itself. Howard Venning, of Aspen Electronics, explores the topic of connector coupling or mating torque.
