Samtec’s new SMP jack and plug interfaces are a cost-effective solution for high frequency performance with limited space. These interfaces are ideal for testing applications where a tight, secure connection and high cycles are required, as well as for rugged, high vibration environments such as military, aerospace and mobile technology.

The SMP interfaces (SMP Series) can achieve high frequency performance up to 40 GHz (a cost-saving 20 GHz solution is also available). The male plug, designed for PCB termination, is available as full or limited detent for a snap-on connection. Smooth bore for low force applications and catcher’s mitt for easy blind mating, are also available. Full detent is commonly used for cable-to-board connections where higher forces are essential. Through-hole and edge mount designs provide further flexibility for a number of board-to-board applications.

The SMP female bullet adapter compensates for misalignment in X and Y directions by creating a flexible link between two SMP male plugs for easy blind push-on mating. The bullet adapter is available in two standard lengths, 6,45mm (.254) and 14,50mm (.571), for multiple board spacing applications. Additional lengths are available for specific applications.

The SMP cable component is available in straight or right angle orientations with a 50Ω semi-flexible RG 405, 24 AWG cable, or a choice of a 50Ω 25 AWG microwave cable with air-enhanced dielectric, or a rugged solid FEP dielectric construction.
