Portable instrument enclosures are now available in a slim version for tablet style electronics. The CARRYTEC M enclosure is aimed at slimmer products or instruments which still require protection. Applications include portable and desktop electronics for medical and wellness applications, communications, data recording, plant and machine construction, agriculture and forest management. The enclosures can even be fitted to suspension arms.

The integrated handle, claims OKW, makes it tougher than rival enclosures with separate handles. There is a large recessed top for membrane keypads plus screwpillars for PCBs in both the base and top section. Interfaces can be installed at the rear for easy cable management.

The enclosures measure 270x247x42mm. Other sizes are also available: L (348x303x117mm), M (270x247x91mm) and S (222x205x80mm). All are available in ABS (UL 94 HB) for indoor applications and robust ASA+PC-FR (UL 94 V-0) for outdoor work.

Standard colours are Off-white (RAL 9002) for the ABS version and Lava Grey for ASA+PC-FR. Custom colours are also available. Accessories include an IP 54 seal, holding clamps (suitable for hospital bedrails), self-tapping screws and a Torx T10 screwdriver.

Enclosures can be customised, the company offers CNC milling and drilling, digital printing or engraving of legends and logos, special finishes, EMC shielding, keypads and assembly.
