Responding to trends for miniaturisation and individualisation, Pentair announce the Schroff Interscale M case platform in metal. It is ideal for applications including fanless fieldbus enclosures, single-board computers, ARM modules, mobile diagnosis, therapeutic equipment for medical systems, PC-based POS systems, video monitoring for building services, and peripheral control units for industrial applications.

the first product in this family, the Schroff Interscale M is available with three options: an off-the-shelf case, a modified case or a customised case. All options are based on the same core component to minimise costs, even for the customised version. Available in 1, 2 or 3 U heights with a variety of widths and depths, it consists of four elements: a robust U-shaped body, front and rear panels and a cover. There are 21 different case sizes available with solid side panels offering ingress protection to IP30, and 19 different sizes available with perforated side panels for forced air cooling off-the-shelf. The case can be assembled or disassembled with just two screws to greatly reduce integration time. Removable front and rear panels allow easy access to the electronics.

Interlocking case walls provide integral protection from electromagnetic interference, which is assured even with perforated side panels at roughly 20dB up to 2GHz. Pentair also offers a broad range of standard accessories, including flexible PCB fixing, different plug-in feet, various fans and fixing elements. Enabling further individualisation, the flexible Schroff Interscale M case offers further modification options such as the case colour, cut-outs and printing on front and rear panels. Available from single quantity within five working days, these modifications provide support and fast service from the prototype phase onwards. The accessories can also be modified and fitted, and additional services such as thermal simulation with Flowtherm and wind-tunnel testing are available on request.

A customised enclosure can be created for applications with specialised requirements, offering a wide range of special sizes and an extended colour palette. Standard components or modified standard components are used in conjunction with custom elements, wherever possible, to reduce development costs. Special printing or cut-outs can also be provided with the customised version. Further special accessories can also be supplied on request.

Allowing customers to implement individual ideas, the new enclosure platform is supplied with the relevant 3D STEP data (as a CAD download) and a user manual free of charge. In quantities of 25 or more units, they also benefit from further cost-optimisation.
