Schroff has introduced a new family of compact MicroTCA cubes, which are designed to enable users to create cost-effective systems for industrial control. In many such applications, there is no need for either full redundancy or many of the system management functions defined in the MicroTCA standard, so Schroff has developed the cubes to minimise costs while retaining the functionality required for the use of conventional AdvancedMC modules.
These simplified MicroTCA systems are available in both subrack and case styles, measuring only 157 x 150 x 250mm and 176 x 133 x 316mm respectively.

Capable of accommodating four single full-size AdvancedMC modules and one single full-size MicroTCA Carrier Hub, the cubes feature a MicroTCA backplane with star connections for GbE and direct connections for the storage interface.

The units are powered by a built-in 250W open-frame power supply with a rear IEC mains socket, and active thermal management is provided by three hot-swappable fans.
In addition to the standard subrack and case configurations, Schroff can also produce bespoke MicroTCA cubes to meet the specific requirements of customers’ individual applications.
