A range of enclosures from Phoenix Contact brings the Raspberry Pi single-board computer into the industrial world. The new housing system offers a high level of protection as well as a large range of expansion options for greater functionality, enabling Raspberry Pi computers to meet the rigorous demands of the industrial environment. The enclosures are in stock at RS Components.

The Phoenix Contact RPI-BC DIN-rail enclosure system can house the Raspberry Pi model A+, B+, or the Pi 2 and Pi3 Model B boards. The range can be used to enable the set-up of several Raspberry Pi computers and I/O modules, which can be easily connected to the DIN-rail to form a complete system via the HBUS.

In addition, there is a large range of expansion possibilities to provide greater functionality for improved flexibility and convenience: for example, by adding optional perfboards or individual PCBs, inserted into the same housing as the Raspberry Pi and connected up to the HBUS by using a pin strip connector.

The housing system provides an easy, time saving and safe installation, thanks to tool-free mounting on a TS35 DIN-rail or on a wall via a base latch. The housing also complies with DIN43880 enabling it to be integrated into a distributor housing.

The enclosure also allows users to connect the GPIO strip to sensors or the power supply with PTSM connectors. The Raspberry Pi’s microSD card can also be replaced and backed up easily, even while still mounted in the system.

The Phoenix Contact portfolio currently offers a range of options, including the complete RPI-BC Housing System, which includes a lower housing part for DIN-rail or wall mounting, base latch, upper housing part, housing cover and PCB holder for mounting the Raspberry Pi board.

These components – the lower housing part and upper housing part – are also available separately from RS. All the parts are available in light grey polycarbonate with an IP20 rating, and are suitable for operation over the –40 to +105°C temperature range.

Also available from RS is a large range of suitable RPI-BC accessories from Phoenix Contact, including adapters and socket and pin strips for connecting up perfboards and compatible PCBs.
