A compact service interface for switch and control cabinets has been released by Weidmüller. Providing easy access to the control system/PC and electronics, the FrontCom Vario is suitable for use in machine construction, processing, and power and traffic engineering. As well as offering a multitude combinations, the device is claimed to take up half the space of competing devices.

The service interface allows authorised persons to gain direct access to defined processes from outside by connecting diagnostic hardware via a data cable or optional power cable. The FrontCom Vario provides easy access to the control system/PC and electronics, whether the user is reading out production data, troubleshooting on the PLC, modifying configuration and programming or performing maintenance work.

The device integrates several functions in a single frame measuring 67x133mm. The installation cut-out is compatible with the 52x91mm market standard, while the housing is impact-resistant and IP65 rated. Markings can be attached to both the inside and outside of the interface. For security, the service interface features a closing knob and lock variant which only grants access to authorised personnel. To allow users to easily access the control system/PC and electronics, the FrontCom Vario features a magnetic cover which fixes to the metal cabinet wall when open. With more than 5,000 combinations, the device offers users a future proof solution.
