AAEON released today two new Intel-based high performance GENE-QM77 3.5” SubCompact SBCs which can greatly enhance performance and provide new features for self-serving ATMs, Kiosks, advanced Gaming and Multimedia applications. These powerful palm-sized boards can also be adapted for networked Automated Medication Dispensing Machines and Smart Interactive Physical Therapy devices in hospitals and clinics.
Designed for the latest 3rd Generation Multi-core Intel Core iSeries processors and complemented by the Intel QM77 or HM76 chipset, the GENE-QM77 Rev.A and GENE-QM77 Rev.B boards offer superb graphic performance via Intel InTru 3D Technology and Clear Video HD Technology, rich connectivity, dual independent Full HD displays, remote management through iAMT 8.0 and Rapid Storage Technology. The 3rd Generation Intel Core iSeries processors offer an overall 38% improvement over its 2nd Generation predecessors. With a lower thermal envelop, it is a clear first choice when designing high performance and small embedded devices at the advent of the Cloud era.

The GENE-QM77 Rev.B SubCompact board uses onboard BGA processors, offering Intel Core i7-3555LE and Celeron 847E options and supports SODIMM DDR3 1333/1600 with a maximum of 8GB memory. Measuring at a mere 146mm x 101.6mm in size, it features a rich array of I/O interfaces and extensions, with two Gigabit Ethernet ports, one CRT (or DVI-I optional), one HDMI, two 18/24-bit dual-channel LVDS interfaces, 2-channel High Definition Audio, two SATA 6.0Gb/s (support of RAID 0,1), one CFast, two USB3.0, six USB2.0, four COM, a programmable 8-bit Digital I/O, one Mini Card slot, onboard 4/5/8-wire Resistive Touch Screen controller and onboard TPM v1.2 support for security conscious applications. DirectX 11, OpenGL 3.1, OpenCL 1.1 and stereoscopic 3D are supported, enhancing up to 50% 3D graphics performances and up to 1.8X real time HD-HD transcode improvements. With the exception of the HDMI port, the GENE-QM77 Rev.A SubCompact board offers identical features and uses socket-type Intel Core i7/i5/i3 mobile processors.

“The GENE-QM77 offers the best in advanced technology, but also caters to legacy peripherals, such as the availability of a SPP/EPP/ECP parallel port,” says Eric Wang, Product Manager of AAEON’s Embedded Computer Division. “We expect to see more and more new and exciting innovative interactive Apps based on these platforms in numerous applications for the entertainment, rehabilitation and retail market segments in the coming years,” Eric adds.

The GENE-QM77 is also available in a ready-to-go chassis TKS-G50-QM77 for faster time-to-market for system integrators and software developers. It is Windows 8 ready and supports most legacy embedded Operating Systems.

Intelligent Remote Device Management and Device Monitoring

For effective remote device management, the free AAEON Hi-Manager program can be installed on each deployed GENE-QM77, allowing BIOS-level remote management from a remote console. Hi-Manager can also be installed on a GENE-QM77 to monitor other AAEON devices. For individual device monitoring, the free Hi-Safe program with its user-friendly monitoring interface can be installed.

Group Management using Hi-Manager

The AAEON Hi-Manager is a powerful tool based on the Intel Active Management Technology 8.0 (iAMT 8.0) and has backward compatibility with earlier versions of iAMT. This allows users to locate all iAMT devices in the intranet, power, set and manage On/Off target devices remotely, recover systems, remote KVM management and access to target device hardware information for asset management. Hi-Manager can be installed on all AAEON platforms and can remotely manage AAEON client devices that use Intel Q77, QM77, Q67, QM67, Q57 and QM57 chipsets and run Microsoft Windows XP, Window 7 Operating Systems.

Status Monitoring using Hi-Safe

AAEON Hi-Safe is a free and powerful hardware-based program geared toward SDKs for UIs running Microsoft Windows Operating systems. It provides an easy way to develop the end user’s own UI software to monitor vital system information such as those for the processor, RAM and VGA. It monitors received data from the Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage, offers configuration options for Digital I/O pin direction and data, provides watchdog timer and fan speed settings, SMBus base address detection and device ID settings, optional monitoring of UPS data information and offers two modes for backlight display control if one uses the LVDS interface. Based on the user interface SDK, no coding is needed and customers can create their own customized user interface by downloading the function codes provided by AAEON.
