Leading designer and manufacturer of computer keyboards, mice, switches, sensors and controls, ZF Electronics GmbH, has appointed Michael Groom to the Board of Directors of ZF Electronics UK, effective immediately. Michael has been General Manager of ZF Electronics UK, based in Luton, Bedfordshire, since 2005, remains the Company Secretary and his promotion follows the retirement of Gunter Murmann as CEO. ZF Electronics UK (formerly Cherry Electrical Products) was acquired by ZF Electronics GmbH when they bought the Cherry Corporation in 2008.
“ZF Electronics UK has achieved excellent results over the past few years against a background of difficult economic conditions” commented Dr. Günther Seitz, Commercial Director, Board of Management, ZF Electronics GmbH. “Last year alone, the UK operation grew direct sales of our automotive products manufactured in Germany and shipped to UK customers by an additional £1M over the budget by consistently winning design-in business. 2010 intercompany sales were also up by half a million pounds over 2009 figures. Michael’s leadership and active management style were key factors in driving the UK business forward and achieving increased profits. The Board joins me in congratulating him on his promotion to Director.”

Prior to joining ZF Electronics, Michael held a number of strategic management positions with well-known companies including Tyco, Siemens Plc and Omron Electronics. Michael, 55, lives in Hertfordshire and enjoys DIY, fishing, walking and reading.

ZF is a decentralized company with divisions and business units that operate independently and flexibly in global markets. In the automotive sector, products are marketed under the ZF brand. Switches, sensors and computer input devices (keyboards, mice and Smartcard readers) are sold under the Cherry brand name.
