Zarlink Semiconductor introduced a new service that allows equipment designers to customize the company's recently released ClockCenter free-run clocking products to meet specific application requirements. With this new level of customization, Zarlink's customers can simplify and accelerate design to speed time-to-market for new equipment.
Zarlink's One Time Programmable service allows customers to optimize ClockCenter free-run products to meet their unique requirements for high-speed telecom and datacom equipment. Depending on the application requirements, customers can choose up to 20 clock outputs, select the output clock type and specify pre-programmed default clock rates from 1 kHz to 750 MHz. Sample products ordered using the One Time Programmable service are available within five business days.

By combining the unmatched flexibility of our ClockCenter free-run products with customization capabilities, we are providing our customers with timing products that meet their exact configuration requirements, said Louise Gaulin, vice president of Zarlink's Timing and Synchronization product group. This level of flexibility and programmability means that, when simply powered up, our ClockCenter free-run products can clock processors, memory and PHY chips, FPGAs and backplane interfaces across multiple end-applications. Competing devices can't match the flexibility of our ClockCenter devices, and may require complex system configuration to meet clocking demands for various applications.
