The UK’s leading manufacturer of laser marking systems has further expanded its overseas operation with the appointment of a new Swiss distributor.
Hertfordshire-based Electrox, which is part of the 600 Group, has appointed The Minelli Corporation as sole distributor to the Swiss market, meaning Electrox now exports lasers to more than 20 countries worldwide.

The Minelli Corporation, which designs and engineers the MIRA range of high precision computer controlled tooling and equipment for the automotive industry, is already one of the leading distributors of CNC and laser machines to the Swiss market. This together with its strategic location in Zürich, Switzerland’s industrial heartland made the company an extremely attractive partner to Electrox.

The company will now offer Electrox’s entire product range from the entry level Raptor, which offers a cost-effective solution for marking metals and plastics, through to the state-of-the-art Scorpion Rapide, a high speed machine that allows complete control of the laser beam parameters in order to mark a wide range of different materials.

Reto Minelli, managing director, of The Minelli Corporation explained that he was keen to stock Electrox’s laser systems because the company’s philosophy mirrors his own. He said: “The laser industry is highly competitive so it was important for us to have a partner that shares the same goals as The Minelli Corporation – to provide market leading products backed up by the highest levels of service and support.

“What’s more, Electrox’s product range offers a powerful alternative to the existing Swiss market by providing a flexible range of high quality and competitively priced laser marking and engraving machines.”

Over the next 18 months, The Minelli Corporation plans to establish the Electrox brand as a market leader and attract customers from across a wide range of industry sectors, such as medical and pharmaceutical, automotive, aerospace, electronics, white goods and giftware industries. As a result, the company is already implementing a co-ordinated and strategic marketing plan encompassing key customer visits, advertising, in-house events and exhibitions.

The first event on Minelli’s calendar was the Prodex Exhibition in Basle. This gave Reto and his team the opportunity to meet with potential customers and introduce them to the Electrox range, demonstrating the Scorpion Rapide in conjunction with a MaxBox Plus and a Dial Plate flexible heavy-duty laser marking workstation.

And the company’s meticulous planning has already paid off in the form of an order for a MaxBoxPlus from leading power and automation technology group ABB Turbo Systems in Switzerland.

“We are delighted to announce the appointment of The Minelli Corporation as our Swiss Distributor,” commented Peter Ramsden, sales director of Electrox. “They already have an established customer base within Electrox’s core market sectors and are therefore well placed to establish the brand within Switzerland. And to have secured an order from ABB Turbo Systems within days of their appointment proves their commitment to making this partnership work.”

Electrox was founded 30 years ago and is now part of the world-renowned 600 Group, the UK’s largest machine tool company and the only company in the industry that is quoted on the London stock market.

The company manufactures a wide variety of fully-integrated laser marking solutions, which use an intense beam of light to permanently engrave or mark a material’s surface. Its systems are fast, extremely easy to use and very cost effective, because there are no components to wear or run out.

Its lasers offer a wide range of applications including ablation coating and removal such as for automotive displays and telephone keypads, traceability and identification, authentication and labelling and for decorative design and personalisation.
