SynQor announced today that it filed a new patent infringement lawsuit on March 22, 2013 against Cisco Systems in the Eastern District of Texas. SynQor v Cisco Systems, Civil Action No. 2:13-cv-00232 E.D. Texas.
The new suit is directed at certain bus converters and the intermediate bus architecture (IBA) systems employing them that Cisco asserts it is now using in its end products. The bus converters at issue are replacements for bus converters found to infringe SynQor's patents in SynQor v. Artesyn, et. al., Civil Action No. 07-cv-0497 E.D. Texas (the '497 case), a decision that was affirmed on appeal.

The SynQor patents in the new suit (U.S. Patent Nos. 7,787,261 and 8,149,597) are both titled Intermediate Bus Architecture With A Quasi-Regulated Bus Converter. Certain of the replacement bus converters are also accused of infringing certain of the patents from the '497 case in SynQor's preexisting suit against Cisco SynQor, Inc. v. Cisco Systems and Vicor Corporation, Civil Action No. 2:11-cv-054 E.D. Texas.

Cisco represented to the Courts that it had completely switched to 'fully regulated' bus converters, but we have now learned this is not the case. commented Dr. Martin F. Schlecht, President and Chief Executive Officer of SynQor.

After spending six years enforcing its IBA patents against Cisco's suppliers, SynQor expected Cisco to respect SynQor's patented technology. Unfortunately, that has not occurred and we are taking all necessary steps to prevent Cisco's continuing infringement in the United States. SynQor is the only company in the world with the ability to legally supply unregulated and semi-regulated bus converters for use in IBA applications in the United States and we continue to work with many customers to ensure that their critical supply needs for these products are promptly met.

Inquiries concerning the foregoing should be directed to Arthur R. Hofmann, Jr., SynQor's Executive Vice President and General Counsel.
