Distributor Switchtec is celebrating its 25th anniversary. Set up by relay guru Alan Lester in 1982, the company has witnessed steady, planned growth since its days of operating from Alan’s home at Alton in Staffordshire. Operating as a UK franchisee for world-wide manufacturers of quality components, Switchtec is a leading specialist in the supply of electromechanical, electrical and electronic components.
Switchtec now supplies over 7,000 products from stock – with access to many more – from eight franchises and has an annual turnover in excess of £2M. At its purpose built premises in Stone (Staffs), the company employs twenty people and represents quality brands such as Hongfa, Euroclamp, Bremas, Vemer, Infra and Sirena.

Offering both technical and sales support, Switchtec has continued to grow year on year, even through tough market trading conditions. Technical Director Jeremy Lester said, “Since I joined Switchtec in 1997, I’ve seen the marketplace become much tougher as a result of global sourcing and the general manufacturing downturn in the UK. We have concentrated on what we do best; the provision of a first class distribution service, coupled with an all embracing technical back up service that is second to none.
