Solid State Supplies has announced that the company will host the third in its ongoing series of one-day training seminars in collaboration with Microsemi, a leading provider of semiconductor solutions. The seminar will be held at Solid State Supplies’ new premises in Redditch, Worcestershire on Wednesday 14th November 2012.
Aimed at engineers with minimal knowledge or experience of designing with field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), the seminar will provide an introduction to FPGAs and design entry methods, and will explore the features of Microsemi’s system-on-chip (SoC) products, including the SmartFusion customisable system-on-chip (cSoC), the only family of devices to integrate an FPGA, ARM Cortex-M3 processor and programmable analog on a single chip.

The one-day course will cover basics such as the history of programmable logic devices (PLDs) and application specific integrated circuits (ASICs), as well as an outline of various related technologies, including static random access memory (SRAM), non-volatile Flash and Hybrid storage options. There will be an overview of the specific capabilities and applications of the Microsemi cSoC devices, a session on software and hardware tools for entry level programming and development, plus a demonstration of Libero SoC, a new user interface which simplifies the design of Microsemi’s Flash FPGAs.
