Smiths Connectors has received a High and New Technology Certification from the Chinese Government for a fourth series of semiconductor test products. The connector specialist received this latest recognition for the development of its 0.20mm – 0.40mm diameter high-speed spring probe for use in 3D Package on Package (PoP) Euclid Test Sockets.

Under its IDI brand, Smiths Connectors’ spring probe technology offers exceptional performance, high reliability and long life.

Issued by the Science and Technology Agency of JiangSu Province, the Certification is awarded to revolutionary product designs. The award considers various criteria including design innovation; development and use of new materials; implementation of new manufacturing processes; key technological breakthroughs; quantity of patentable products; overall contribution to industry and the progression of society.

Smiths Connectors holds this prestigious Certification for three other product Series including its DaVinci Test Socket family for 40GHz High Speed Test, awarded in December 2012; Euclid Sockets for Manual Test and Euclid Sockets for Automated Test, both awarded in November 2013.

“Smiths Connectors is honoured to receive this recognition from the Chinese government. It speaks to the level of engineering and innovation we seek to contribute to the Semiconductor Test Market,” said Andy Eaton, Managing Director of Smiths Connectors. “Smiths Connectors benefits greatly from our design and manufacturing centre located in Suzhou, China, which offered significant contributions to the conception, prototyping and introduction to the market of these products. Our Suzhou facility serves as our flagship engineering center in Asia and is representative of our commitment to growth and investment in China and the surrounding region.”
