Since March 2011, Sensirion has been certified in accordance with environmental standard ISO 14001. This certificate is a result of the sensor manufacturer’s endeavors to improve the company’s sustainability and to professionally manage all environmental aspects.
The management system has been developed under the supervision of EHS manager Dr. Serena Filipuzzi, who is in charge of Sensirion’s environmental, health and safety activities since 2010. According to Filipuzzi, “An important goal in Sensirion’s environmental policy is reduction in energy consumption“.

For instance, a focal point in the construction of the new production building is minimization of the energy demand. Emphasis is also given to the safe handling of chemicals, ensuring safety both for humans and for the environment. The replacement of hazardous substances by less harmful ones wherever possible is a standing goal.

This includes for example the replacement of greenhouse gases with an environmentally friendly alternative in the sensors’ calibration process. Following its existing quality certification to ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949, this new environmental certification signifies for Sensirion an additional step in establishing professional and reliable management processes. At the same time it guarantees the company’s engagement to sustainability and environmental protection and ensures continuous improvement.
