productronica 2009, the world’s leading trade fair for all aspects of electronics production, will be held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre from Tuesday November 10 to Friday 13, 2009. productronica has been the production industry’s global meeting place since 1975 and this year’s event will bring together more than 1000 exhibitors from over 30 countries. Altogether, well over 60,000m² of exhibition space has already been reserved by companies representing every sector of electronics production from PCB assembly and test and measurement, to materials handling, contract manufacturing and logistics.
With the claim “World’s leading trade fair for innovative electronics production“ and the theme “Innovation all along the line“, new innovation has become the focal point of productronica 2009. Focus areas will examine those topics representing market sectors with real growth potential. These include: Photovoltaic Manufacturing; MicroNano Production; Organic Electronics; Electronics Manufacturing and Hybrid-Component Manufacturing.

Online Visitor Registration

Although it is many weeks before productronica 2009 opens its doors in November, the show has already begun online with an informative website ( www.productronica.de ), regular newsletter updates and now online registration for visitors.
Those planning to visit productronica can learn about show highlights, exhibitors and the range of conference and background events for the worlds leading fair for electronics production by using the visitors section of the website. Also, by pre-registering and pre-paying, visitors can avoid the entry queues on arrival at the Trade Fair Centre and use their printed voucher to enjoy free travel on Munich’s public transport on the day, or days, of their visit. What is more, by answering a few questions when pre-registering, those who organise productronica will learn enough to supply visitors with advance information on their particular areas of interest. Such information can include relevant exhibitor locations and events that focus on the visitor’s particular information requirements.

As with previous events, the UK and Ireland will be well represented by exhibitors at productronica 2009 across all major electronics production sectors.

Manufacturing Solutions

Teknek (www.teknek.com) Teknek – the global leader in contact cleaning equipment for the electronics sector – will be demonstrating the world’s most advanced contact cleaning system at productronica 2009. Nanocleen, which was five years in development, offers unrivalled contamination elimination and static control benefits in the electronics production environment. Teknek pioneered the development of contact cleaning equipment 25 years ago and has remained at the forefront of innovation in the sector ever since. It now has an installed user base of 16,000 “clean machines” world-wide and it is estimated that customers using its yield improvement technology have saved in excess of $2bn. At the core of the Nanocleen system is a specially formulated roller and adhesive roll.

Circuit Test

XJTAG (www.xjtag.com) is a leading supplier of IEEE Std. 1149.1 compliant boundary scan development tools. The XJTAG Development System is an established test suite with a range of software and hardware products that enable users to debug, test and program circuits quickly and easily. The system works with devices that conform to the IEEE 1149.1 and 1149.6 boundary scan standards.
Utilising XJTAG allows the circuit development and prototyping process to be shortened significantly by facilitating early test development, early design validation, fast development of functional tests and test re-use across circuits that use the same devices. XJTAG is based in Cambridge, UK, and is part of the Cambridge Technology Group. XJTAG was the first boundary scan solution to offer a common platform for use by design and development engineers, test engineers, contract manufacturers and field test engineers, providing testing of not only JTAG-enabled devices but non-JTAG devices as well.

Production

Leading thermal profiling solutions vendor, SolderStar (www.solderstar.com ), has developed a new range of thermal profiling products designed to meet the needs of every production line and budget for both reflow soldering and wave soldering techniques. SolderStar has grown from strength to strength, dedicated from the outset to the design and manufacture of specialist, easy-to-use thermal profiling equipment and software for the lead-free electronics industry.
The range is split into three product lines: SolderStar Lite – Is designed specifically to offer professional profiling for the novice profiler and reduced budget. This product is ideal for small volume or low-complexity PCB manufacture, or as a secondary system; SolderStar Plus – Represents a robust profiling solution combining the best thermal performance for lead-free with unique channel orientation and easy-to-use, intuitive software. SolderStar Pro - The SolderStar Pro package takes profiling capability to the highest level and provides true process profiling for optimum quality control.

Production Handling

Cooper Rason (www.cooper-rason.co.uk) specialises in production handling solutions. Cooper-Rason’s team is made up of engineers who have many years of experience in production engineering technology and its Pro Ex PCB handling equipment reflects this depth of knowledge. Pro Ex products include conveyors, board inverters and board handlers. Based in the UK, Cooper-Rason is able to offer its customers fast solutions to their problems by calling on a range of standard products as well as providing a full bespoke design and manufacturing service.

Manufacturing

The Midland Assembly Network (www.midlandsassembly.net ) is a UK association of complementary, technically excellent engineering companies who offer a wide range of mechanical, electro-mechanical and electronic sub assemblies to manufacturers across the globe. As a result, productronica 2009 will be an excellent opportunity to discuss ways to reduce procurement costs, improve product efficiency, reduce inventory requirements, and develop innovative product solutions. The Midland Assembly Network provide access to some of the UK’s leading component manufacturers, precision engineering businesses, engineering pressing companies, toolmakers, production machine builders, electro-mechanical and electronic sub assembly companies as well as automotive engineering.

Anyone in the UK and Ireland who has a need to speak to someone about the show should get in touch with Messe Muenchen’s UK representative - Roger Sherman at Pattern Ltd. He can be reached on 020 8940 4625 or at roger@pattern.co.uk
