Philips Lumileds Adds Senior Executive to Lead SSL Expansion in the Asia Pacific Region

According to Mr. Tse, “Those companies that can develop the entire LED, from Epi through packaging, and posses the manufacturing capability to deliver the reliability and quality of light required in mass volume, will succeed and lead the transition from conventional to solidstate illumination.” Mr. Tse began his career at Philips Lighting where he was responsible for the professional lighting business in Hong Kong and South China. He has also held various positions in sales management, product marketing and business development in solidstate lighting and most recently ran the global marketing and sales for Light Engine Ltd. (formally Cotco).

Mr. Tse also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Melbourne, Australia, and a MBA from the University of South Australia. “Philips Lumileds is committed to the growth and development of the solid-state illumination market in Greater Asia,” said Steve Barlow, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Alvin has the vision and experience in the region that will allow us to develop and support the lighting industry.” The company’s LUXEON Rebel LEDs are already deployed in more reliable, energy efficient outdoor lighting and retrofit bulb solutions designed in Asia and LUXEON product portfolio expansion and an expected increase in resources for the region will support market efforts for shop, office, home and hospitality lighting as well.
