After more than three decades of providing voice solutions, Microsemi has announced that it has shipped over 1bn voice line circuits. The company, which manufactures the miSLIC, ZL880 and VE890 series of voice line circuits, has a 65% market share in voice solutions for VoIP enabled broadband gateways.

Optimised for short loop, power sensitive applications, the voice line circuit solutions are claimed to provide the highest level of integration in the market. Microsemi’s voice line solutions are suitable for cable embedded multimedia terminal adaptors, DSL integrated access devices, fibre to the premise applications, LTE gateways and analogue terminal adaptors.

According to Infonetics Research, the CPE market will increase by approximately 200m units per year for the next five to seven years. This is due to the way in which broadband providers are increasing the number of services they offer.

To reduce time-to-market when adding voice to residential gateway applications, Microsemi offers systems designers an application toolset which includes software development tools, reference designs and development platforms.

“We are proud to reach this industry milestone and continue our leadership in voice line circuits with over 65% market share,” said Jacques Issa, Vice President and Voice Business Unit Manager, Microsemi. “With our proprietary SLIC process and manufacturing capacity, Microsemi remains the trusted partner who delivers in high volume a reliable and cost effective solution.”
