Link Microtek, the UK manufacturer and supplier of RF and microwave components, subsystems and instrumentation, has completed the acquisition of Southampton-based Azdec Ltd, which specialises in the design and manufacture of infra-red digital communications systems for military and industrial applications.
The acquisition will ensure the long-term future of the Azdec brand and products, with the company operating as a subsidiary of Link Microtek.

Azdec’s Infra-Com system provides secure and interference-free short-range mobile voice communications. Particularly suitable for use in areas of high electrical or acoustic noise, the system allows operators to speak to each other or to a central base station without using radio signals.

Commenting on the acquisition, Link Microtek’s managing director, Steve Cranstone, said: “We are very excited about the purchase of Azdec, not only because of the synergy with Link’s own defence-electronics business but also because of the enormous potential that the Infra-Com system offers in terms of export sales.”

While Azdec’s day-to-day operations will continue unaffected by the change of ownership, Link Microtek will be increasing the company’s production capacity, enhancing its support and service facilities, and seeking to boost its presence in international markets.
