Intersil has announced the launch of a Vendor Item Drawing (VID) compliance program with several power management devices for the military/high-reliability marketplaces that meet Defense Supply Center Columbus (DSCC) requirements for Vendor Item Drawing certification.
All Intersil devices are now available with a warranty of performance over the full temperature range as defined in the vendor’s individual DSCC VID drawing. For systems requiring full military temperature range products, Intersil’s military-temperature VID devices eliminate logistics, product maintenance and additional testing costs associated with upscreening lower grade parts. All of Intersil’s new military-grade controllers offer full traceability and change notification with enhanced end-of-life support.

The new program offers design flexibility while still meeting military/hi-rel standards at a fraction of the cost of traditional SMDs.

The first products announced under the program include the ISL884xA, a family of six unique pulse-width modulator (PWM) controllers that feature fast signal switching and output switching and operate at 30V with a 2MHz switching frequency. They are ideal for applications such as non-isolated boost, isolated flyback and forward DC-DC converters.

Also produced through the new VID program is the ISL6420BMAEP, a rugged, single sync buck PWM controller that features a wide input voltage range (4.5V to 28V), wide output voltage range (0.6V to 27.5V) and can handle the wide extremes of the military temperature range.

Finally, the ISL65426MREP is also fully-VID compliant. It is a dual sync buck PWM controller with a wide temperature range and space-saving features like independent enable pins, digital soft-start and 1MHz switching frequency. In addition, this product features the ability to program the output voltage and current through logic pins. For example, the part can be programmed for 1.5V and 4A on one output channel and 1.8V and 2A on the other channel. Output voltage and current options are ideal for powering FPGAs and CPLDs.

Intersil’s ISL8840AMBZ, ISL8841AMBZ, ISL8842AMBZ, ISL8843AMBZ, ISL8844AMBZ and ISL8845AMBZ are available now in 8-ld SOIC packages. The ISL6420BMAEP is available now in a 20-ld QSOP package, and the ISL65426MREP is available now in a 50-ld QFN package.
